Situation
Balanchine is ideally situated on the edge of the popular commuter town of Earlston with an abundance of amenities on the doorstep.
Earlston is a bustling market town in the Scottish Borders and is very popular with commuters working in Edinburgh using the A68 with an approximate 45-minute commute. It is also popular with families, with the highly regarded Earlston Primary School and High School which was one of only two schools in Scotland to feature in Tatlers Top 20 State Secondary Schools 2018. The town has a range of shops, supermarket, cafes and eateries, pubs and visitor accommodation, as well as health facilities, sport and leisure amenities and frequent local events. The historic towns of Melrose and Jedburgh are within easy reach and the larger town of Galashiels offers large supermarkets, cinema and a wider range of shops and restaurants. There is a variety of outdoor pursuits in the area including fishing on the River Tweed, rough and syndicated shooting, horse riding, a challenging 9 hole golf course and a selection of walks including the Southern Upland way.
Edinburgh is within easy commuting distance via the A68 or A7, both of which link to major routes north and south bound. The Borders General Hospital lies just outside the town and nearby Tweedbank minutes to the west of Melrose, has a station on the Borders Railway providing a service into Central Edinburgh with approximately an hours journey time. Berwick-Upon-Tweed (approx. 37 miles) provides a major rail link for travel to the South and for the frequent flier, airports can be found in Edinburgh or Newcastle.
